3rd Stretch Goal Unlocked! New Stretch Goals Revealed! 169% Funded in Week One!
about 7 years ago – Tue, Feb 07, 2017 at 11:24:43 PM

Wow! From your feedback and excitement, we always knew this project could stretch further and further! What we didn't know was how fast it would grow! Only one week in and we've already moved past our first 3 stretch goals.

We have our artists and modelers working overtime so we can show you the details of the following stretch goals, but here's a preview of what's to come.

You may notice that two out of the three stretch goals are for new add-ons. We really feel that these concepts deserved to be fully fleshed out in the best way possible, which necessitated making them available as add-ons rather than free stretch goals.

We still wanted to make sure there were more free awards coming as well, so one of our stretch goals includes 2 new characters and 4 new location tiles.

This stretch goal will put the final base game count at 11 playable characters, 34 location tiles, and 25 miniatures!

Thank you again for your support! There's still plenty of time and plenty of material to be shown off, so please continue to share the project and continue the conversation. And, as always, we'd love to hear your feedback on these stretch goals!

Character Breakdown: Tillman Scott/Superhero
about 7 years ago – Mon, Feb 06, 2017 at 10:21:05 PM

Hey everyone! A long update today that examines one of the available characters of The Shared Dream. This should be a great conversation starter, so please leave a comment with your thoughts and questions.

As a status update, yesterday's update marked us blowing past the first two stretch goals and our way to a third. Well, a day later, we're already well more than half of our way to the next stretch goal! We've kept up a great daily pace! And don't worry, the page will be updated soon with more Stretch Goals.

Thanks again!

We wanted to use this update to delve a little bit deeper into one of the characters in The Shared Dream. Hopefully these updates will help show the diversity in play styles, and how character selection can make a big difference in how a scenario is played.

Meet Tillman Scott. As you can see by his bio, he is an intelligent man whose dreams were full of mighty heroes. He has a very low Combat and Movement score, but an average Social score and a high Magic score.

Players using Tillman will want to avoid direct conflict with enemies while in this Waking World form, unless they are able to get their hands on an Artifact that relies on his high Magic score. On the flip side, Tillman is a good candidate if any Social or Magic tests come up.

Of course, his major downside is his 1 movement. In his base Waking World form, Tillman has to carefully consider where he wants to go and in what order, since he cannot afford any wasted movement.

Of course, there's another way for him to deal with his low movement...

Well, that’s quite a change! Even before considering the Passive Aspects, the Superhero very obviously has different capabilities than his real world counterpart. He now has a higher Combat Score, lower Magic and Social scores, and most dramatically, an extremely high Movement score (the highest in the game, in fact.) The purpose behind this high Movement is revealed once we examine the Superhero’s Passive Aspects.

Rank One, Strong Arms, allows the Superhero to take an Anima with them when they move from one location to another. This can be helpful in a multitude of ways, such as delivering a slow character to a Location necessary for their Reflection deck or removing a particularly weak character from a dangerous situation.

Rank Two, Tireless Defender, does not directly use the movement statistic, but the Superhero’s high movement allows the Superhero to “swoop in and save the day” by moving across the board and “tanking” the hits from multiple opponents.

Rank Three, Heroic Resolve, ties directly into his Rank Two. Even with his resistance to multiple opponent penalties, it's possible for the Superhero to get in over his head. Heroic Resolves allows the Superhero a "Last Chance," allowing him to barely survive attacks that would lay other characters low.

The final component of a character is, of course, their Animus Abilities. After all, what good is becoming a Superhero if it doesn’t give you something cool to do?

Continuing the theme of being a protector/savior, Rank One allows the Superhero to deal guaranteed damage to an opponent, as well as forcing them to move. By using Mighty Throw, the Superhero can serve as a “shield” by standing between the enemy they’ve thrown and the rest of the players, knowing that the enemy is likely to move and target him (enemies always move towards and the closest Anima.)

Eye Beams is a fun ability since it can be used on its own to finish off an opponent at range, or can be used in conjunction with Mighty Throw to deal 6 damage to an opponent, all as 1 action.

More than one play-tester couldn’t help but puff out their chest and read off the card “Get back, citizens! I’ll handle this!” as they used a 1-2 combo of Mighty Throw and Eye Beams to finish off a Reaver!

Finally, the Rank 3 Animus Ability gives the Superhero even more movement utility. When channeled at Rank 3, the Superhero can use Save The Day to travel directly to another player, and then use Strong Arms to move that player wherever they needed to be. And all as 1 action!

We hope this preview helps show off some of the tactical decisions a player has when playing The Shared Dream. Remember, you must spend an additional Conviction for every Rank of your Animus you must channel. So does your buddy REALLY need you to channel at Rank Three so you can automatically jump to them? Or maybe you should save that extra Conviction (and spare yourself the extra Nightmare) but channeling at Rank Two, and using one of your actions to move there manually.

This level of risk assessment and resource management is at the core of the strategy of The Shared Dream.

We'll be following up with another Character Breakdown soon, so you can see how different each character is and the possibilities they offer.

Another Stretch Goal Down!
about 7 years ago – Sun, Feb 05, 2017 at 11:36:48 PM

The Shared Dream now comes with 8 playable characters. The Crux Collection now has 8 playable solo scenarios.

Now that you've got all these characters unlocked, don't you want to put them through the paces with a new scenario?

The mind-rending Alien Invader is ready to give your nightmares a sci-fi twist with a new scenario, coming once we've funded $50,000! And don't you dare think that's where the stretch goals stop, because there are more on the way!

Thank you for your excitement! The Shared Dream is growing every day, and it's because of your efforts. We're seeing this project getting shared and people making posts all over the place about it, and that makes all the difference!

Retail Availability/Stretch Goal #1
about 7 years ago – Sat, Feb 04, 2017 at 03:15:49 PM

We've received some questions specifically about retail stores wanting to back The Shared Dream for resale.

If you are a retailer interested in carrying The Shared Dream, please send us a message for more information and to set up your pledge.

In other exciting news, I'm glad to say we are within striking distance of our first stretch goal! Let's keep up the momentum and get the Monster Hunter into the Shared Dream!

We are funded!!
about 7 years ago – Sat, Feb 04, 2017 at 10:39:06 AM

What if you had a dream, and when you woke up, you found out that 333 other people had that same dream? What if you discovered that your dream wasn't just a dream, but it was becoming real? And what would you do when you realized that wasn't where it ended, but only where it began?

Then you'd be a backer on The Shared Dream!

Congratulations and thanks all around, we are already 100% funded two days after launching.

We've already get that first Stretch Goal in our sights. As a reminder, at $35,000 we're looking to add an additional player character to The Shared Dream, and an additional solo scenario to The Crux Collection!

Stay tuned for more updates, because this adventure is just getting started!
